J. Grant Hauber

Managing Director

Grant has over 19 years' of experience, nearly 15 of which were earned in the emerging markets of Asia.  His experience encompasses leading roles as project developer, investment banker, management consultant, and financial advisor to both public and private sector energy and infrastructure clients.

Grant has lead transaction experience in the electric power, natural gas, water and wastewater infrastructure segments with niche expertise in clean energy.  He served as project manager and country representative for Sir Gordon Wu’s Consolidated Electric Power Asia in India and was lead developer for the company’s US$5bn 3,960MW power project.  

As manger of project finance at ANZ Investment Bank in Hong Kong,  he acted as advisor and arranger on trailblazing energy projects in Greater China and Vietnam.  The work included advising the successful bidder for the Phu My 2, Phase 2 power project, the first competitively tendered private sector infrastructure project in Vietnam. 

Prior to forming Catenaria, Grant was a Director of Aequero, a boutique clean energy development and financial advisory firm that partnered with clients to originate, structure and raise capital for renewable energy projects throughout Asia.

As a consultant, Grant has extensive experience in market assessment, corporate strategy and designing and implementing key corporate governance structures, all specific to the energy and infrastructure sectors.  This expertise includes creation of risk management frameworks, design and planning of investment screening and evaluation criteria, and portfolio asset assessment, valuation and management.  Grant has developed numerous investment plans, market entry and asset strategies for major corporate clients investing both in Asia and markets worldwide.

In the area of sector regulation, Grant was a member of a focused research team in the State of Connecticut Department of Public Utility Control tasked with developing the State's initial electricity sector restructuring policy. 

Grant is also an accomplished civil and structural engineer having designed and managed numerous water/wastewater, highway, bridge and building projects.

Grant holds an MBA from the Yale School of Management and a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Carnegie-Mellon University.  He is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, the American Chamber of Commerce in Singapore, the Sustainable Energy Association of Singapore, and the Singapore Business Federation.
